What does the flap between the two doors do?
Two doors that meet in the middle leave a gap, and something has to seal it. Viking calls that part the flipper mullion (a hinged strip on the left door that swings flat across the gap as the door closes). When it sticks folded the wrong way, or a bottle stops it turning, cold air slips out down the middle. The 3 Series guide ties it to water gathering under the crisper cover and says to adjust the flap. Moisture on the outside of the cabinet, or between the doors, it puts down to a door left slightly open.
Why does one door open when you shut the other?
Shutting one door hard can bump its partner ajar, so close both gently. If it keeps happening, the guide points to a cabinet that is not level or food touching the door.
Is it normal for the 3 Series to run nonstop?
Yes. Its variable-speed compressor (the refrigerant pump, built here to run slowly instead of switching on and off) is designed to run all the time except during defrost (a pause of about half an hour while frost melts off the cooling coil). A steady hum on its own is not a fault.
Why has the ice slowed down or stopped?
The ice maker sits in the freezer. Viking rates the RVRF3361 at roughly 2 to 2.5 pounds a day and the current RVFFR336 at up to 11, so read your own model’s guide before judging the bucket. If it will not stop making ice, a package may be pressing on its wire arm. Cubes fused into a lump come from hollow cubes breaking and refreezing: use ice at least twice a week, and change the water filter if it is clogged.
